Need some healthy after-school snack inspiration?

Healthy after school snack ideas

Are your kids grumpy and ‘starving’ when they get home from school?

What we feed our kids after school can have a big impact on their mood, behaviour and concentration for the rest of the afternoon and evening.

If you're keen to have a calmer house and happier, more focused kids why not try some of these healthy after-school snack options?

Each snack contains a balance of protein, healthy carbohydrates, fruit and vegetables, and good fats.

On less busy days, I often make up a big snack plate for the kids to share but when I'm juggling work or after-school activities I stick to something simple like a smoothie, bliss balls, fruit, vegie sticks or egg.

Preparation is key so I recommend making some bliss balls and boiling a few eggs on a Sunday afternoon.

Here are a couple of bliss ball recipes:

In terms of portion sizes, these snacks would be suitable for children in primary or high school. The large snack plates are designed to be shared by several children. If you have younger children (toddlers or preschools), I recommend reducing the portion sizes.
