Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does a nutritionist do?

A: As a clinical nutritionist, I am trained to conduct personalised clinical assessments and collect detailed health histories from my clients.

This information is then used to create individualised treatment plans which incorporate diet and lifestyle recommendations and supplement suggestions (if required).

Clinical nutritionists practice integrative health, which means that we look at how all the different body systems work together and we focus on determining the root cause of health issues, rather than simply treating the symptoms.

Q: How much does it cost to see a nutritionist?

A: A 90 minute initial consultation with Nourish To Thrive Family Nutrition costs $175. This includes the cost of the consultation plus information handouts, a personalised treatment plan, a 4-week meal plan (non-customised) and a relaxing Epsom salt gift pack.

Follow-up consultations cost $95 and last 45 minutes.

Initial consultations for children and adolescents are $140 for 60 minutes and follow-ups are $75 for 30 minutes.

Purchasing a consultation package can be a good option if you are looking to reduce costs as you will receive a 10% discount). See the website for more information.

Q: How many appointments will I need?

A: All new clients require an initial consultation and at least one follow-up, generally 4-6 weeks later. Some clients,  especially those with more complex or chronic health issues, require several more follow-up consultations.

Each case is different and I am a big believer in empowering my clients and giving them the skills and knowledge to follow a healthy diet and lifestyle so there is no pressure to keep coming back once you feel like you are on track.

Q: What is involved in a consultation?

A: When you book a consultation, you will be emailed a new client intake form which asks for information about your health history, diet and current health concerns/priorities.

The initial consultation involves further discussion about your symptoms, diet and overall health and this is also when we work together to set short- and long-term goals based on the identified concerns and priorities.

Following the consultation, a personalised treatment plan is provided, which incorporates dietary recommendations, lifestyle strategies and supplement suggestions (if required).

Q: Do I need a referral?

A: A referral is not required in order to book a consultation. Simply select ‘Book a consultation’ on the website to use the online booking system.

If you are still not totally sure about whether my services are what you are looking for, I recommend booking a free 15-minute discovery call.

Q: Do you offer online consultations?

A: Yes, online consultations are available via Zoom.

Online consultations are a great option for those who are not able to access the clinic, for example, people in other parts of Sydney or interstate.

They can also be beneficial for parents of young children as it means you can do the consultation from the comfort of your own home and not worry about having to find someone to look after the children.

Q: Do you only see children?

A: I see people of all ages in the clinic! Nourish To Thrive Family Nutrition is a family practice so everyone is welcome, however my main client groups are women, children and adolescents.

Q: Will I have to spend lots of money on supplements?

A: There is no obligation to buy supplements.

My focus is always on prioritising dietary changes first and supplements will only be suggested if clinical assessment highlights any nutrient deficiencies or health issues that may be difficult to address through diet alone.

Client budgets are always taken into consideration and I generally suggest affordable high quality combination supplement formulas that many clients find are cheaper than their previous supplement regimes! (hands up if you are currently spending lots of money on a whole load of different vitamins and other supplements?)

Q: Will I be referred for lots of expensive tests?

A: Testing is always optional and is not included as part of the standard consultation process.

On request, I am able to refer clients for a range of different tests, including blood tests, hair tissue mineral analysis, gut tests, DNA (nutrigenomic) tests and allergy/intolerance tests.

These tests range in price and can be a valuable source of information, particularly for people with complex or chronic health conditions.

Q: Are private health fund or Medicare rebates available for consultations?

A: Unfortunately private health fund or Medicare rebates are not available for my services.

I am passionate about providing highly personalised, accessible and affordable health care for my clients, and you will find that my services are very good value.

Q: Do you offer meal plans?

A: A non-customised 4-week meal plan is included with all initial consultations. Customised meal plans are provided if you book a Premium Consultation.
