Pre-made smoothie packs: a healthy breakfast solution for busy mornings

Do you like smoothies? Are you often in a rush in the mornings?

Prepping smoothie packs in advance saves time and ensures you have a healthy, ready-to-blend option on hand for busy mornings or snack times. This is a good thing to do when you are doing your regular Sunday prep for the week ahead.

A few tips :

  • Only pre-freeze solid ingredients: include fruits, vegetables, seeds, and other solid ingredients in your freezer bags/containers. They freeze well and blend smoothly once you add the liquid. Nut butters can also be pre-frozen.

  • Add liquid fresh: when you’re ready to make your smoothie, add the liquid (like yogurt, coconut water or milk) to the blender.

  • Adjust liquid amount: you might need to adjust the amount of liquid, depending on the consistency of the frozen ingredients and how thick you like your smoothies.

  • Adjust the sweetness: if you and your family are used to sweeter smoothies, you can increase the sweetness by adding a medjool date or extra honey or maple syrup. I recommend trying to gradually reduce the sweetness as your palate will adjust over time.

The following recipes are packed with nutrients and contain a balance of healthy carbs, protein, vitamins, minerals and good fats.
